RC Planes For Beginners: The Sport Cub S RTF

One of the best RC planes for beginners is the Sport Cub S RTF with SAFE® technology.

The basic idea of the Sport Cub S  was to supply RC planes for beginners and give them every chance of success, with a minimum of expert assistance or even go through the learning process completely alone.

This Cub is made of tough injection molded foam and the SAFE® technology allows beginners to succeed, first time out! The model is very light and quite robust and  any of the inevitable repairs can be carried out quite easily. Also a wide range of spare parts are available.

SAFE® technology used in RC planes for beginners

SAFE® is an acronym for Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope. This is a software program that can sense the horizon and can, by using control movements, keep the model level.

There are 3 flight modes that can be selected. Level 1 restricts the maximum bank  angle the RC airplane can achieve and will ensure that this is an ideal RC plane for beginners.

Level 2 increases the allowable bank angle and Level 3 allows full aerobatics performance.. (Within the design capabilities)

If the pilot looses orientation, there is a "Panic Button" that returns the  RC aircraft to safe level flight in a minimum of altitude.

Effectively this is 3 airplanes in one and once you have learned to fly, you can progress through to performing rolls and loops etc. without having to buy more airplanes!

It is worth pointing out that the Sport Cub S also uses AS3X technology that is used by Horizon in many models. This is a 3-axis gyro system that automatically compensates for wind and turbulence and makes the "feel" of the model more like a much bigger airplane.

Having said that, this is a very small and light RC airplane and should be flown in very calm conditions.

Note that this is an RTF (Ready To Fly) model-so nothing else is required!
