Micro RC Airplanes: Ultra Micro T-28 Trojan RTF

by Robert Bishop
(RC Airplanes Simplified.com)

The T-28 Trojan is an easy flying Ultra Micro scale RC plane. It is ideal for intermediate to advanced flyers, but is not recommended as a beginner RC plane.
The tricycle landing gear makes ground handling a pleasure but is easily removable and then the model can be hand launched.
A large back-yard, with few trees makes an ideal flying site and indoor RC flying is a lot of fun, in a gym or similar large area.
This RC electric plane has a wing span of 16.8: and a total weight of 1.3oz, so you can see that it will not be a lot of fun to fly in anything but dead calm conditions.
In the box you will find the complete model, already assembled. It is a 4-channel model using the normal ailerons, rudder and elevator controls. Note that the nose wheel is steerable.
This being an RTF version, it comes complete with a 4-channel, 2.4Ghz, DSM2 RC transmitter, a lipo battery and charger and dry cells for the transmitter and charger. There is virtually nothing else to buy!
Scale like RC aerobatics are a joy with the T-28. Loops, rolls and wing overs are a delight and it can be slowed down to a reasonable speed for landings and touch and gos.
The 3.7V 120mAh 1S lipo battery gives flights of 6 to 7 minutes and it is always a good idea to buy at least one spare, so that flying can be more or less continuous.
Reading a number of reviews, almost all were very favorable of this micro RC airplane. 5 stars were not uncommon and it was obvious that the T-28 Trojan is NOT a toy but a true hobby class electric RC airplane.
The only negative comments were regarding the fact that it is difficult to fly in a breeze and caution regarding buying for a child that has no flying experience.
The T-28 Trojan is a real bargain, at less than $100 for a complete RTF model! Buy one and go fly on your front lawn and take off and land on the driveway!

You can save a few dollars, compared to the price of the RTF version.
With a wing span of 16.8" and a total weight of 1.3oz, you can understand why it should not be flown outdoors, in anything but a dead calm. However, when those conditions exist, then it is time for a lot of fun, flying in the backyard or taking off and landing from the sidewalk or driveway!
