Micro RC Airplanes: Ultra Micro P-51 BNF
by Robert Bishop
The Parkzone Ultra Micro P-51 BNF is a very nice scale RC airplane. With a wing span of 15.8"and a total finished weight of 1.22oz, this 4-channel model can be flown outdoors in dead calm conditions or indoor RC flying can be done, in a local gym or similar large indoor facility. Either way, flying is a ton of fun! Being a BNF model, you will need a 2.4Mhz DSM2 RC transmitter. Otherwise everything else is included in the box. All the batteries are there and a charger for the lipo battery. A steerable tail wheel is built in and the main landing gear can be easily removed. The built in receiver is a Spektrum 2.4Ghz AR 6400, 6-channel. Micro RC airplanes have certainly come a long way and this P-51 Mustang is a joy to fly. It is certainly not a beginner RC plane, but if you have learned the basics with an RC trainer airplane, then this could be your next model! After reading a lot of reviews, it became clear that a lot of inexperienced fliers were having problems flying this P-51 whereas the more experienced were having a blast! It does fly fast and it may be a challenge for indoor RC flying because of this. So if you have a few models under you belt, you will enjoy this ultra micro RC airplane! by Robert Bishop
This is the RTF version of the Parkzone Ulta-Micro P-51D Mustang. This version comes completely ready to fly(Just charge the batteries)and includes a Spektra 4-channel, DSM2 RC transmitter, on the 2.4Ghz frequency. Also in the box,you will find the dry cell batteries, the DC battery charger and a 3.7V, 120mAh, 14C, lipo battery. This P-51D is a 4-channel model with full proportional control of the ailerons, rudder, elevator and throttle. The landing gear is unpluggable, allowing you to fly around with the wheels "retracted". If you can take-off and land, then the steerable tail wheel will be appreciated. When the winds are calm, you can fly the Mustang outdoors and take-off and land on the patio, or similar hard surface. Indoor RC flying is also possible in the school gym or similar large area. It is not intended to be a beginner RC plane, the Ember 2 RTF would be a better choice, for beginner RC pilots. Reading the reviews, it was hard to find any criticisms, except from new RC pilots, who found it fast and difficult to control. However, experienced pilots were delighted with the performance! The point is to chose a more appropriate RC airplane that matches you skills. This plane is not a toy, and is intended for the more experienced pilot! See more Micro RC Airplanes.
