A Scale RC Model Helicopter, the Blade Huey UH-1 RTF.This scale RC model helicopter, is an accurate replica of the Bell Iroquois, from the Viet Nam era. Easy to fly, this collective pitch, remote controlled helicopter is complete and truly ready-to-fly.
![]() This RC helicopter review is one of the latest offering from Blade RC. This is a very nice scale RC helicopter, replicating the Bell Huey UH-1, famous for the role it played in the Viet Nam war. It is based on the Blade SR platform and comes out of the box, completely ready to fly, with a 2.4Ghz RC transmitter, lipo battery and a DC charger with an AC to12V power supply. The Blade SR is specifically intended as you first collective pitch electric helicopter. If you have "cut your teeth" on a co-axial or fixed pitch RC model helicopter, then the SR is your next obvious step. So the UH-1 Huey is easy to fly, as long as you have some experience with collective pitch electric helicopters.
What you get for your hard earned dollar. The scale, licensed Huey body with the Blade SR mechanics inside. Rotor diameter is 21.7" and total weight is 14oz, enabling this scale RC helicopter to fly outdoors and indoors. The E-Flite HP6DSM 6-channel, 2.4GHz RC transmitter (a $100 transmitter!) A lipo battery-3S 11.1V 1000mAh and a 3-cell balancing charger, with an AC to 12V DC, 1.5 amp power supply. This remote controlled helicopter, comes out of the box completely assembled and TEST FLOWN! So you should have no problem on achieving complete satisfaction.
How does it Fly? The Huey is so new( available late October 2011), that I could not find a single review. However, when we consider that the mechanics are from the well proven Blade SR series we can say that it should be easy to fly. It is set-up with scale like mild control and has a low head speed. I would not recommend it as a beginner RC helicopter. The beautiful scale fuselage should not be subjected to the bumps and scrapes that are sure to occur in the early stages of learning to fly. Get your feet wet with a collective pitch machine (such as the E-Flite Blade SR RTF Electric Micro Heli) and then give the Blade SR UH-1 Huey RTF a try!
So, if you would like to fly this icon of American aviation history, give a try to the Blade SR UH-1 Huey Gunship RTF. Design features.
The gun and rocket pods are some of the scale details that make all the difference, along with the US Army "Air Cav" paint and markings.
Note that the direct drive tail rotor electric motor is mounted high on the tail, close to the scale position. Fast acting makes handling that much smoother.
The magnetically held hatch, makes battery changing a snap and a spare battery means that you can optimize the number of flights possible, in any session.
The last feature to mention, are the black finished symmetrical rotor blades. these really make the Huey RC model helicopter look like the real thing! We are accepting orders now, so do not be disappointed and get your order in now! Return from A Scale RC Model Helicopter, the Blade Huey UH-1 RTF to RC Helicopters.
