How to scale horsepower to weight

I really enjoy watching the videos on you tube and want to build and fly a large scale RC myself, sometime soon.
I have not decided on civilian or military, but one of my concerns is to have the model fly as accuratley scale wise as the full sized aircraft does which means more accurate power to weight ratios etc then what I have been watching.
Don't get me wrong!
I love lot's of horsepower and thrust but I'm more concerned with accurate (scale) flying qualities.
Where would I find that information?
