Getting Started in Radio Control Airplanes: The Complete Beginner's Guide

The Complete Beginner's Guide

This book is a bit dated but well worth your consideration. The author, Gerry Yarrish, has been a contributor to Model Airplane News for many years and has written a wide range of articles on all aspects of the hobby.

Many building and covering tips are included and the book is slanted towards the glow engined airplane and the information given about electric power shows how old the book is!

First Flight: A Beginner's Guide to RC Airplanes: How to Buy the Right Plane and Teach Yourself to Fly!

First Flight: A Beginner's Guide to RC Airplanes: How to Buy the Right Plane and Teach Yourself to Fly!

Of all the beginner RC airplane books that I have come across, this is the first one that can be downloaded to your Kindle. ( It is also available as a conventional paperback.)

This is an excellent book for the beginner and I strongly recommend that any potential pilot, buy this book, before he or she buys there first RC airplane!

All the RC airplanes mentioned are of foam construction and electric powered. This is by far the simplest and easiest type for the newcomer-leave the more complex types until you have learned to fly.

The author writes in an easy style and makes specific recommendations as to which airplanes and accessories to buy. This is always a risky business, if only because RC airplanes become unavailable quite quickly but I found that all listed are available. (Feb 2015)

I downloaded the Kindle version and found it to be an excellent choice for the first time pilot. If you read this book then your chances of success are increased a hundred fold!

If you own a Kindle then the price means you have no excuse not  to buy! Or you can download the free Kindle App. to your phone or computer.
